A melon species once thought to be extinct is having a resurgence in its namesake city. The Montreal melon is a sought-after delicacy popular among society’s elite in the late 19th century. But as Montreal’s farmland gave way to roads and buildings, the fruit disappeared. Now, as Dan Spector reports, the Montreal melon is having a moment thanks to some local initiatives.
